About Tim....
Tim Routledge is a highly experienced Lighting Designer and programmer and in 2009 won the BAFTA Wales Best Lighting Director award for his work on Grand Slam - a 2 hour one off television special to celebrate the Welsh Rugby team winning the Six Nations at the Millennium Stadium. This year Tim will return to the stadium to design the opening concert of the Ryder Cup.

As lighting director Tim recently lit the "Concert  for Heroes" from Twickenham Stadium live on BBC1 headlined by Robbie Williams. In 2010 he also designed set and lighting for television for the "Hope for Haiti Now" telethon offering from London shown live on every major US network and looked after U2, Beyonce, Coldplay, Jay-Z and Rhianna. He was also recently lighting designer for the "Outside In Festival" for Whizzkid and broadcast by Channel 4. Late 2010 saw Tim design tv lighting the AOL Music Sessions featuring Cee Lo Green and a broadcast version of Ozzy Osbournes Ozzfest for MTV Italia.

Tim is also a highly experienced lighting programmer and television work includes The Royal Variety Performance 2009 & 2010 (itv1, BBC1), The British Comedy Awards (itv1), Rod Stewart - One Night Only (itv1), Lets Dance for Comic Relief (BBC1), NME Music Awards (Ch4), Big Brother (Ch4). As well a broadcast television he also works on a large number of recordings for retail, credits include Take Thats The Circus at Wembley Stadium, Spandau Ballet Live DVD, Simply Red and many others. Tim has also been lighting director for a number of Welsh television productions including Popty, Dechrau Canu, Pop Factory Awards and soon to be shown Cor Glanaethwy - a six part music series for S4C.

He specialises in music and has worked on a number of music productions  - as LD for Katherine Jenkins 2010 tour, for a number of one off concerts for the Stereophonics to launch their new album.  And as programmer on Dancing On Ice The Tour, Madonna’s Sticky and Sweet tour and the Nolans live tour and Classical Spectacular.


In 2008 was lighting programmer to international Lighting Director - Durham Marenghi and worked on the handover at the Closing Ceremony of the 2012 Beijing Olympics and Paralympics - a show watched by over 4 billion viewers. In 2010 Tim will be worked  as lighting programmer to Patrick Woodroffe on the FIFA World Cup music concerts in Johannesburg

In recent years following the rise of LED and Video media integrating into lighting design, Tim has been involved in video graphic design for a number of shows and most notably as Video Designer for “Children In Need rocks the Albert Hall” (BBC1) a gala show featuring Robbie Williams, Take That and Paul McCartney to name but a few.

Tim trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and returns their regularly to teach the current students in all aspects of lighting design. He was trained in the theatre side of lighting design and has designed theatrical shows and tours all over the world including permanent shows on the largest Ocean Liner in the world - the Queen Mary 2.
